... flowers & centerpieces ...
Here it is common for florists to be part of a network, much like FTD in the states, I assume. But all their websites were the same (except color schemes) with 'cookie cutter' designs. I wanted to find a place that was a bit more unique, maybe a small local type shop. We found a few online and decided to visit them. The first one wasn't helpful at all, except that we sat and looked at some magazines and got a better idea at what we liked and wanted. But the girl working didn't know anything and couldn't give us any real information. The second place was just down the road from the first, and we walked in and they had a wedding display all set up. But the woman who does wedding flowers wasn't in, and the girl working wanted us to make an appointment - only they would not do evenings or weekend appointments - Peter works during the day, and no way am I going to make these decisions without his input. She wouldn't even let us sit and look at the books they had. We were very unimpressed and scratched them off the list straight away. The third place we went to was a family run business, the mum and her daughters, and they were working on a GORGEOUS bouquet and we were very impressed with their work. Still, we had a fourth one on our list, so we went to visit. The shop was bigger, but I didn't like the lady who ran it at all. She kept trying to tell me what I wanted, and quoted us something ridiculous for the centerpieces we wanted (info on them below - we are doing them all for about the same price she quoted for ONE!). So, we ended up going with our third visit, Aunt Rosie's Flowers.
Flowers:
Brides's Bouquet: My bouquet is a simple one of just roses, mostly in white, with a few blue roses mixed in. I will be attaching a ribbon and adding a small photo of my dear friend, AnaFe Parks, who passed away a couple of years ago due to Hodgkins Disease (cancer), to carry with me.
Helen's Bouquet: Helen's bouquet is a smaller version of my own.
Brides's Headpiece: I will be wearing a band of white and blue roses in my hair.
Helen's Headpiece: Helen's headpiece will be a comb-style with 2 white and 1 blue rose in it
Mother's Corsage: Peter's mother's corsage will be 2 white and 1 blue rose.
Katy's Corsage: Katy's flowers will be a single white rose.
Peter's Boutonniere: Peter's buttonhole will consist of 2 white and 1 blue rose.
Matt's Boutonniere: Matt's buttonhole will consist of a single white rose.
Travis's Boutonniere: Travis's buttonhole will consist of a single white rose.
Father's Boutonniere: Peter's father will also have a single white rose.

Centerpieces:
We have decided to do our own centerpieces as they are very simple, and we could do them for much less money than a florist would do them for. Basically the idea consists of a shallow glass 'baking' dish that is oval. We will fill them with water, and sprinkle blue glass chunks in them, place a dark blue pillar type candle in the center and float small white flowers on the water. We wanted to have something low profile, so people could talk to each other without having something obstructing their view across the table.
