Hotel Miramar: The Miramar is holding 4 rooms for the evening of the wedding. If you would like to stay at the hotel that evening, please call them and book the rooms as soon as you can. Make sure you tell them that you would like one of the rooms being held for Crystal & Peter's wedding. I am not entirely sure what the rates are for these rooms. But the staff at the Miramar is absolutely wonderful and the hotel is gorgeous in a beautiful location.
Brooklands Hotel (Bournemouth):
This is a quaint, small, friendly B&B in Bournemouth, within walking
distance of town centre and the beach/pier. I stayed here when I
visited in 2005. The room I had was not overly large, but it was
clean and sufficient (and I had my own bathroom) and the staff were
wonderful.
Center Parcs (Longleat): For something a bit different, this
is a gorgeous resort a couple of hours drive from Bournemouth. Peter
and I had our first holiday together here, and it was the best time!
The place is set into forested land, and there are loads of
activities to do, from Badminton to Swimming. We saw deer and ducks
outside our patio door some days.
Marriott Hotel Bournemouth: For those of you looking to stay in a 'well known' hotel chain, there is one close to where we are getting married. It's a big hotel (we felt too big for our wedding) with gorgeous views, but I have no idea about the rates. I do know there is a convention in town that weekend with the Marriott as the 'host' hotel, so book your rooms fast.
Lewina Lodge: When I was looking for places to stay, this was one of the places I considered. We have driven by it before, and it is close to town. But I do not have any information as to the condition of the rooms, but they seem to have low rates.
Wood Lodge: This place looks gorgeous, but I don't really know where it is or anything. :) |

Bournemouth: The town of Bournemouth is a busy one, with shopping, night clubs, and other things to do within walking distance of many hotels/bed and breakfasts in the area. It is also right next to the sea, though I suspect in mid-October it might be a bit chilly for swimming. But a walk along The Pier or a visit to the small
Oceanarium
or just a bit of shopping might be just what you are looking for.
Swanage Railway: The train that goes from the town of Purbeck to Corfe Castle.
Corfe Castle:
Originally, Peter and I wanted to get married at Corfe Castle, but
this country has funny laws regarding where weddings can take place,
and Corfe was not on the list of approved places. But it's still a
wonderful place to see if you are into this type of thing.
Stonehenge: We are
surprisingly close to Stonehenge, so if this something you've always
wanted to see, now would be your opportunity!
Longleat/Lord Bath's Estate:
Always wanted to go on Safari? Well, here you can... sort of. :)
Also, don't miss the giant hedge maze where you can get lost for
hours! (Yes, we know from experience :) )
Alton Towers:
An amusement park about 4 hours drive north of here, but with some
amazing roller coasters if thrills are what you are seeking!
Thorpe Park: A closer, smaller version of Alton Towers.
Moors Valley: A nice forest/park - this is where the other two photos on the front of this website were taken. They have a 'tree top trail' you can walk, and activities and such to do.
Compton Acres: If you are into botanical gardens, then Compton Acres is right in this area.
Starlight Express: If you'd like to see a show whilst in the area, the Starlight Express starts on the 17th of October!
(Another
link from the Bournemouth Online page.)
Mr. Kyps: A live music venue.
Monkey World: is an ape rescue center.
Tank Museum: Tanks!
Sea Life Centres: The closest one to this area is in Weymouth, where they have a sea turtle sanctuary.
Brownsea Island: A small island off the coast, home to rare red squirrels and other creatures.
National Trust Website: For information to other places of interest.
EdenSpa: If you are looking for a relaxation and/or beauty treatments, here is a spa in the local area. |
